Travel Hanoi honoured contributors to the 1000th celebration of Thang Long – Hanoi

On November 9th, the Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, and the Fatherland Front of Hanoi City held a ceremony to review activities that marked 1000 years of Thang Long – Hanoi.

According to Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, vice-chairwoman of Hanoi City People’s Committee, the great celebration was successful and had an important significance, which left deep impression in each Vietnamese’s heart. The success was based on five dimensions.

Firstly, fine traditions of Thang Long – Hanoi over the past 1000 years were glorified. UNESCO Council issued a resolution on the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi, that confirmed the significance and position of the event. Traditional and modern values of Hanoi were honoured during the 10 days and attracted multitudes of people in Vietnam and foreign countries.

Secondly, the event cultivated the patriotic spirit, national pride and love for the party among Hanoians and Vietnamese people. This was indicated through the success of contests towards the great celebration.

Thirdly, more than 100 works to serve material and spiritual life and the demand of the national and capital development were put into operation. They include Thang Long boulevard, Vinh Tuy bridge, Hanoi museum….

Fourthly, activities to mark the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi strengthened the national solidarity towards the capital.

Fifthly, the event was an opportunity to popularize the images of the capital and the country to international friends to improve its position and prestige, and showed that the capital had enough capacity and conditions to hold national and international events in the near future.

On this occasion, chairman of Hanoi City People’s Committee presented flags of emulation to 52 groups and ceritifiicates of merit to 564 groups and 908 individuals for their great contributions to the 1000th celebration of Thang Long – Hanoi.
