Travel Training tourguides for heritage sites
Training tourguides at heritage sites aims to help local people and tourists improve their understanding about the value of heritage sites as well as awareness of heritage conservation.
In the framework of project "Developing the strategy of Culture -Tourism integration for the sustainable development in Quang Nam province", the UNESCO office in Hanoi supports the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the provincial Heritage sites Administration to hold a training course for heritage tourguides according to the training program and certification of UNESCO.
This course will take place in Hoi An from November 7th to 11th, with the participation of a cultural expert of UNESCO in Bangkok, Mrs Montira Horayangura and lecturers of Tourism Faculties from Vietnam colleges and universities who successfully graduated the human source training program of UNESCO in 2007.
It is hoped that once the pilot training program succeeds,valuable experiences would be draw and practical recommendations would be summited to relevant authorities about improvement and popularzation the value of heritage conservation, creating a strong human source to promote the heritage sites in Vietnam.
Vietnam has 6 world heritage sites of outstanding values recognized by UNESCO. These sites are becoming the destinations of tourist activities, specially, cultural and heritage tourism.
Well-trained tourguides will be a precious resource for destiantion promotion by offering tourists special experiences about impressive heritage sites, gaining advantage over other destinations in the region.
