Travel Phu Yen wants recognition for Xuan Dai Bay

The central coast province of Phu Yen will ask the World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club to recognize the province’s Xuan Dai Bay as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, an official of the province said.According to the provincial department of culture, sports and tourism, Xuan Dai Bay, located in the province’s northern Song Cau and Tuy An districts, has a water surface area of nearly 13,000 hectares. The depth of the bay is between five and 18 meters.

Xuan Dai is full of mountains that make pools in the bay. Its bed has many kinds of coral and seaweed. The bay has many islets such as Yen Islet, around four hectares, Ong Xa Islet, around ten hectares and Dam Ca Islet, around three hectares.

Le Kim Anh, vice chairperson of the province, told the Daily that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism had agreed to the petition for recognition as the bay will promote a beautiful image to tourists.

“After the survey trip, we saw the bay had the potential to become a member of the World’s Most Beautiful Bays Club,” Anh said last weekend. The survey trip included members of the ministry, the national tourism authority and tour operators.

Anh said Xuan Dai was a neglected bay with tourism services still undeveloped. Locals catch fish and hatch shrimp on the bay.

“We will map out a tourism development scheme for the bay when it becomes one of the most beautiful bays in the world,” Anh said.
