Travel Hanoi enjoys increasing number of local tourist arrivals

The Hanoi Statistics Office reported that the number of foreign tourists to Hanoi reached nearly 76,000 in September 2009, decreasing by 9.6 percent from the previous month and 21.4 percent compared to the same period last year. However, the capital enjoyed a 3.1 percent increase in the number of local tourists, with 530,000 tourist arrivals. The figure increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

With this, in the first nine months this year, Hanoi welcomed 5.8 million tourist arrivals, decreasing by 2.2 percent compared to the same period last year. Of this, the number of foreign tourist arrivals was 745,000 (decreasing by 19.8 percent) and the number of local tourist arrivals was 5 million (increasing by 1.1 percent).

Over the past nine months, travel agents and hotels saw a 2.3 percent decrease in turnover year on year.
