Travel Da Nang celebrates World Tourism Day

Diverse activities took place in the central province of Da Nang to celebrate World Tourism Day 2009 on September 27 on the theme of “Tourism: Celebrating Diversity”. The most remarkable event was the 2009 Da Nang Open Cooking Competition held by the Da Nang Toursim Promotion Centre on September 23-24. The competition attracted nearly 30 chefs from leading restaurants and hotels in Da Nang, Hue and Hoi An cities.

At the same time, hotels and tourist areas were decorated with flags, flowers, and banners. Some hotels and travel companies also launched promotional campaigns. The Managament Office of Son Tra peninsula worked with the local authorities to clean several beaches on September 26 to raise public awareness of the need to develop sustainable tourism.

The 30th anniversary of World Tourism Day was held in Ghana, one of the founding members of United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
